Blue Skies & Painted Walls

 A visit to Alentejo

06/07/2017 - Although slightly run down this building shows the typical painting style of the area; mainly white, with a stripe of colour along the bottom.

04/07/2017 - An abandoned building in the centre of town.

15/07/2017 - This style of house is also common, with the fresh paint job clearly showing the beauty of the simple painting design.

18/07/2017 - A rarely used bus stop, amongst a cluster of buildings a little way out of town. The motorbike shown is the most common form of transport.

05/07/2017 - The repair shop for all the vehicles in the town. Most of the time it's the old motorbikes they're trying to keep running.

08/07/2017 - Many of the houses keep guard dogs. Most of the time you only hear their barks from behind closed doors. However on this occasion the large dog was let out. You could see how pround she was of her dog, and it seemed freindly enough until it decided I was up to no good with my camera and bit me. At this point the woman simply shrugged her shoulders and pointed to a tile on the wall which translated to "BEWARE OF THE DOG".

04/07/2017 - The inside of a very typical looking cafe.

12/07/2017 - These white buildings were dotted all over the countryside.

10/07/2017 - The greenest fields in the area lay in the valley, where once an old tributary ran. Now salt marshes, many storks gathered here.

06/07/2017 - Large expanses of land are used for growing cork trees. These trees grow very slowly often forming mangled shapes. Just under the cork bark of the tree lies a beautiful orange colour.
